Pen and ink silhouette of Penelope Bird, wife the Revd. William Bird of Church Eaton, Staffordshire.    Peneloped Bird was born in 1772 and married the Rev. Bird in 1795.  The Rev. Mr Bird, Master of the school, was appointed by the school trustees who always  appointed clerymen to be Master.  The school was considered to be a grammar school. The silhoutte is presented in an ebonised frame with a gilt brass acorn mount.

Penelope Bird is recorded in the 1841 census at the age of 69 b.1772 not 1773 as noted on silhouette reverse and living in Staffordshire.
