19th Century Grand Tour carved figure of the Lion of Lucerne.

The Lion of Lucerne monument commemorates the sacrifice of six hundred Swiss guards who died defending the Tuileries Palace in 1792. The monument portrays a dying lion lying across broken symbols of the French monarchy.  The lion is located in a rocky grotto in Lucerne, Switzerland.
